Onigajo

A 1.2 km long lava coast line was in the Pacific Ocean more than 14 million years ago, and over time the land was elevated several times. This extraordinary wild cave, which is a part of Yoshino-Kumano National Park, is said to have once been a place where horrible pirates lived. "Oni" literally means horrible ogre in Japanese, and Onigajo was once called Ogre's Place. Later on, when a ruler built a castle there, its name was changed to "Onigajo" which means ogre's castle.
